Quilt

I made this quilt for my best friend Justine. It took me a day to cut the pieces and another day to sew it all together! --I was determined to finish it :) I cut 3 long rectangular pieces (different widths), which make a square when sewn together. Each square is about 12-18 inches by 12-18 inches! I can't remember! Anyway, I made it 4 squares across and 5 squares down. On the back is a quilted fabric with batting attached to it, which I sewed on each side and then tied in every corner with yarn.. The pictures aren't as good as the real deal! That is Justine holding up the blanket :)

materials
8-10 different fabric designs, scissors, sewing machine, embroidery/quilting needle, yarn

MY own California Roll

So I was browsing the web yesterday and I decided I wanted something to put my iphone in. Jacob has a clear case... but I wanted more than just a case! So I found this on griffintechnology.com. It is called the California Roll. It's a case for your ipod/iphone, headphones, and usb cord thingy. This costs 20 bucks on Griffin and I wasn't wanting to spend that much for a case that I can make myself! So Jacob and I went to JoAnn's crafts to buy a few things. We went to my grandma's house where all my cousins were, and I started making my pattern! I gave MY california roll a twist and put an extra pocket (for cash)! There are a total of 4 pockets if you can see. One cash pocket, one credit card pocket, one iphone pocket, and one earphone pocket! Here it is!

materials:
duck cloth (that's the fabric), elastic band, sewing machine, double wide black border,
thin, but strong plastic you can sew (the kind you see in wallets for your driver's license or the kind that is used to cover up the cheap pocket calendars)! haha

The great thing about the clear plastic is that you can still use the touch pad without having to push hard. It's great!

Cuppie Cake Apron

I was inspired to make this while walking around in Tall Mouse craft store. I bought the pre-made apron, bought cupcake fabric, ruffles, and rick racks (that squiggly blue stretchy stuff). This fits kids ages 4-6. My sister (the model below) is 7... and she's also the shortest one in her class ;)

materials:
small (child size) pre-made apron, your choice of cute fabric,
matching ruffles, rick rack, sewing machine

I've never FELT this way :)

My current obsession is felt. I am absolutely mad about felt! I came across this book called 'Cute Stuff'. Its colorful front cover is what attracted me to it (i'm sucha kid)! I decided to buy it!
materials:
felt, 5-6 in. zipper, embroidery floss (matching your felt),
embroidery needle, sewing machine (for zipper)

Throw Pillow

Jacob surprised me with a new bedspread and matching sheets! My favorite colors--
brown and blue!... I realized that we were missing something... a throw pillow!
So I went to the fabric store, bought a pillow and some blue satin, and sewed up a throw pillow! I made the button in the middle...  and I had trouble making that certain style (where the button is sucked in the middle of the pillow), so Jacob sewed that part for me!

materials:
satin, pillow, sewing machine, zipper, button :)
YES, that IS wood panelling in the back... There are certain parts in my parents house that is very outdated. And when I say very, I mean, 70's. No offense, to you 70's babies... ;)

Sock and Glove!

Okay you guys gotta check this out. You've heard of the sock monkey... Well, this is WAY better than the sock monkey!

<--- lil doggy
Jacob made this cute little guy out of a pair of gloves! It only took him a few hours! It's pretty cinchy! And yes, Jacob knows how to sew! There's nothing sexier than a man who can sew! ;)

Materials:
1 pair of gloves
3 buttons
Sewing machine
Needle and thread (for hand stitching)
Stuffing/batting
And some lovin'! haha ;)

Elephant ---->
I made this elephant out of a pair of grey socks! It was fun to make! It took me a few hours, too. It's pretty much my favorite animal now... ;)

Materials:
1 pair of grey socks
2 buttons
Sewing machine
Needle and thread
Stuffing/batting

Scoodie

scarf + hoodie = scoodie

Here's what Jacob and I have been creating! A few months ago, we were planning on selling them for some money :) but it's springtime and... you don't really see scarves too much!
note: notice how i say "irreversible" instead of "REversible". that just goes to show how long i've been away from school... lol

Scripture Bag 2

I made another scripture bag. This one is made of black duck cloth. The other one isn't as cool as this because it doesn't have pockets to hold my stuff!

materials:
duck cloth, sewing machine

Buttons

I bought a button making machine and went crazy with pin buttons. You can stick 'em anywhere! Your clothes, your bag/backpack, and ...that's about it. These are just a few of them...

materials:
button making machine, computer (to print out designs), button making kit

Pencil Carrier 2

These are smaller versions of the pencil holder thingies. They hold about... 3-4 inch colored pencils used for my scriptures! Small and fits perfect in any bag :)

materials:
fabric, ribbon, sewing machine

Scripture Bag

It's for holding my scriptures!

materials:
duck cloth, fabric, sewing machine

Pillow Case

This is a pillow I made for Jacob on Valentine's day :) I cut strips of fabric and sewed them together. It's pretty cinchy! Use black if you want to give it a masculine look haha

materials:
fabric, sewing machine :)

Film Cannister

Cut a slit on the side of an empty film cannister. Put a roll of stamps in there and tada! You have a stamp dispenser :) I even labeled it with my cheapo label maker. It's that easy.

materials:
empty film cannister, stamps, x-acto knife

For Your Ribbons...

A place to store ribbons! My Converse shoebox. I knew this box would come in handy. Poke holes on opposite ends of shoebox and glue/tape 2 chopsticks together and put them through the ribbons' spools to hold them in place. Punch holes through the front of the shoebox to string your ribbon through!

materials:
chopsticks (or skinny wooden sticks to put spools through), shoe box, spools, hole puncher

Spool Stand

I didn't really have any "real" wood for this, so I used extra base board we had lying around. I sawed it myself! Then I carved holes and hot-glued little pieces of wooden sticks (i used chopsticks) to hold the spool in place! Be sure to sand down the sharp spots. It's no fun getting a splinter.

materials:
wood (or baseboards like I used! lol), saw (please be careful!), TONS of wooden chopsticks or a long skinny wooden pole (from Michaels), wood carving utensil, hot glue, hammer, nails, sand paper

Keep Your Sparkles

Here's a way to keep your sparkles in one place. Stick 'em in a mini water bottle! I took off the original "kirkland signature" label and made my own from a sticker maker.

Throw Pillow 2

My cousin was jealous that I had a pillow with a picture of me and my husband, so I made one of her and her boyfriend. I used her favorite colors- maroon & black.

materials:
fabric, computer, favorite picture, transfer paper (don't forget to reverse the picture before printing!), iron, pillow, zipper

For the front, I cut out stars and gave it a frayed look. For the back, I sewed strips of fabric together.

Make Envelopes

Another fun thing... make envelopes! I used old magazine paper from a Dooney & Burke catalog (these catalogs are HUGE). The pages are a little thicker than the normal magazine pages. You can also use regular magazine pages, but they are not as sturdy and cool!

materials:
colorful pages from big designer magazines or catalogs, glue (Elmer's is ideal), scissors

Pencil Carrier

Tired of using cardboard and ziploc bags to hold your pencils/colored pencils? Well, I have the solution for you! Introducing... the pencil carrier thingy!

materials:
fabric, ribbon, colored pencils!
